To the Editor:

	William Carey's editorial (25 May 1979) announcing %2Science 80%1
founds it on the "reputation and credibility" of %2Science%1.  In
my opinion the credibility of %2Science%1 suffers from
the combination %2News and Comment%1, because the objectivity of
the presentation of the news is compromised by the views of the
writers expressed in their comments.  It would be better if %2Science%1
separated news from comment and if its editors enforced higher
standards of objectivity in the presentation of the news.

	I fear that the writers for %2Science 80%1 will feel even greater
license to advance their causes in the presentation of the news.
